If you’re thinking about when to visit Walt Disney World Resort, fall might just be the perfect opportunity. It’s that sweet spot where the summer heat finally lets up a little, the crowds (mostly) simmer down, and the theme parks burst into color with cozy, pumpkin-spiced charm.
From the second you see Mickey pumpkins on Main Street to the first sip of your seasonal latte, you’ll feel the Halloween spirit all around you. Add in lighter crowds, cooler temperatures, amazing food, and all kinds of special treats, and it really is one of the most magical times to be there.

EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival
This is the foodie highlight of the season, and if you love trying new flavors and celebrating different cultures, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is a must. With your EPCOT park admission, you get access to dozens of Global Marketplaces offering everything from savory street food to indulgent desserts, along with drinks for every kind of taste.
If you’ve never experienced EPCOT’s international food scene in the fall, you’re in for a treat. There’s something about wandering World Showcase with a snack in one hand and your kids chasing Remy on the map that just feels like Disney at its best.
Festival Favorites and Activities
Emile’s Fromage Montage is always a fun one, order five cheesy dishes around the park, get your stamps, and earn a little reward at the end. The kids will love the Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt, and Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is another adorable seasonal hunt that’s perfect for younger ones (or distracted adults like me).
And don’t miss the fall overlays on attractions like Living with the Land. During the festival, you’ll spot seasonal displays throughout the ride, highlighting how Disney grows some of the very ingredients used in dishes around the park. It’s a peaceful break and surprisingly educational, too, it’s one of my favorite slower moments in the day.

Eat to the Beat Concert Series & Dining Package
You definitely want to plan your day around the Eat to the Beat Concert Series at the America Gardens Theatre. It’s a relaxing way to wind down your evening with live music and a bite to eat. Even better? Consider booking the Festival Concert Series Dining Package.
This package combines a meal at one of EPCOT’s participating table-service restaurants with reserved seating at one of the concerts later that evening. You can book breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and it includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert (or buffet, depending on the location), and a non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverage for those over 21.
Menus vary by restauran. Spice Road Table, for example, offers two small plates, a shared tagine, and a shared dessert platter. After your meal, you’ll get a reserved seating badge for the concert that same day. The seats are in the second section, center, which is a great view, especially if you arrive a bit early.
If you’re like me and planning your park days around food and shows, this is one of those little Disney hacks that makes everything feel extra special.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Let’s talk about Magic Kingdom Park in the fall. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a whole event—literally—and one of the most fun ways to do Halloween with the whole family. The costumes, the trick-or-treating, the themed ride overlays, and the Halloween treats? It’s a blast from start to finish.
There’s also the Boo-To-You Parade (watch for the Headless Horseman!), the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and the Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Fireworks. You’ll also get to see some of your favorite Disney characters in their Halloween costumes, which always makes for the cutest photos.
And yes, you can go all-out with your costumes too. Adults are welcome to dress up, which is so rare and honestly just so fun.

Halloween Fun Beyond the Party
Even if you don’t do the party, the Halloween fun spreads through all the theme parks. Haunted Mansion feels extra spooky this time of year, and the fall photo ops in Town Square and around Seven Seas Lagoon are perfect for your memory maker album.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom both offer fall touches like themed snacks, character sightings, and little seasonal surprises. You’ll find Halloween treats in carts, quick-service locations, and bakeries all over the place—don’t pass up the pumpkin-spice Mickey waffles, trust me.
The special treats pop up all season long, so it’s a good idea to check the menus ahead of time or ask a Cast Member what’s new.

What to Know About Crowds
Fall usually means lighter crowds, especially in early September, late September, and the first week or so of October. It’s more relaxed, easier to get dining reservations, and a great time to ride more with shorter waits. The weather helps too, it’s not exactly “sweater weather,” but it’s much better than the high-humidity days of summer.
Now, if you’re looking for lower crowds, try to avoid the week of Columbus Day if you can. It’s fall break for a lot of schools and tends to be one of the busiest fall weeks. But if that’s the week you need to travel, don’t worry, I can help you plan a magical trip with tips to work around the crowds, beat the lines, and still make the most of your time.
Late October is also lovely for those who want the full Halloween experience. And if you visit in early November, you might even catch a few lingering pumpkins as the holiday decor begins to roll out. It’s a special little overlap that doesn’t last long but feels like you’re getting a two-for-one on Disney magic.

There’s just something about fall at Walt Disney World Resort that feels more relaxed and more special. Maybe it’s the amazing food, or the festive decorations, or the simple joy of being able to walk through the parks without sweating through your socks. Whatever it is, it’s worth experiencing at least once—and I’m warning you now, it might just become your favorite time to go.
Whether you’re chasing festival snacks at EPCOT, soaking up the Halloween spirit in Magic Kingdom, or just looking for a quieter, more colorful time to explore the parks, fall is full of perfect opportunities to make memories that stick.
