If you’re anything like me and love Halloween, Disney, and making magical memories with your kids, then Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park is a must-do for your family this fall.
We’ve made it part of our Halloween tradition, and yes, we’ve even done the long road trip just for one night. Honestly, it’s totally worth it. If you’re wondering whether this special ticketed event is all it’s cracked up to be, let me walk you through why it’s become one of our favorite ways to celebrate spooky season.

What Makes Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party So Special
This isn’t your typical Disney day. MNSSHP is a separately ticketed event that runs on select nights from early August through Halloween night. It’s a more exclusive experience with a limited number of party guests, making the park feel less crowded.
We’re talking minimal waits for favorite attractions like Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and Mad Tea Party, which has a super fun Halloween twist. It’s one of the best perks of the event.
You can enter the park at 4 p.m. with your event ticket, and the party starts at 7 p.m. That early entry gives you time to enjoy rides or grab dinner before all the Halloween magic kicks off.

Trick-or-Treating at Disney
One of my kids’ favorite things at the party is the trick-or-treating. Throughout the park, treat stations are set up where cast members hand out generous scoops of candy. It’s fun, it’s easy, and nobody’s begging for just one more house.
If your family deals with food allergies, Disney has you covered. Just pick up a teal-colored treat bag when you enter. You’ll get a teal token instead of candy as you visit treat stations. Then, you exchange those tokens at allergy-friendly centers for safe, allergy-aware goodies. It’s so comforting to know my child with food allergies doesn’t have to miss out.
Costumes, Characters, and Tons of Photo Ops
The costumes are half the fun. Everyone can dress up, including adults, and the creativity people show is incredible. One year, we dressed as Toy Story characters and got many compliments.
The real showstoppers, though, are the character greetings. You’ll see favorite characters you don’t usually find in the parks, like Captain Jack Sparrow, Jack Skellington, and the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. Many are in Halloween costumes, too, and the photo ops are incredible.
Character lines can get long, so it’s smart to pick your must-meets ahead of time.

Entertainment You Don’t Want to Miss
There’s a ton to see and do throughout the night, but one of our favorite parts is when the Headless Horseman rides down Main Street before the Halloween parade begins. It’s honestly one of the most thrilling moments of the party.
The castle show usually features the Sanderson Sisters, and it’s such a good time. If you’re a Hocus Pocus fan, you’ll absolutely love it. The fireworks show that closes the night is just as magical as you’d expect, with Halloween-themed music, projections, and plenty of wow moments.
Spooky Snacks and Special Treats
Of course, no Disney event is complete without limited-edition snacks. The Halloween treats at MNSSHP are fun and festive and often come with little souvenir touches, like themed cups or toppers.
A heads-up: Some items sell out, so if you’ve got your eye on a must-try treat, don’t wait too long to grab it. Also, ticket and food prices tend to increase closer to Halloween night so that earlier dates can be a little friendlier on your budget.

Ticket Info and Party Dates
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights from August through October 31. This is a separate ticket event, which means you don’t need a regular park ticket to attend unless you want to enter Magic Kingdom Park before 4 PM.
Scary Halloween party tickets usually cost $109 to $179, and the most popular nights sell out first. If you’d like to go when crowds and costs are a bit lower, aim for an earlier date in the season.

So, Is It Worth It?
Absolutely. Between the low crowds, rare Disney characters, fun costumes, and magical entertainment, it’s a night we look forward to every year. Whether your kids are still little or getting into their teen years, it’s one of those special Halloween experiences the whole family can enjoy together.
It’s festive, inclusive, well-organized, and just a good time. You’ll laugh, snack, dance, and walk away with hearts full and bags packed with candy.
